Songsmith is a piece of software that allows you to sing a vocal melody into a microphone hooked up to the computer, a piece of software then analyzes your key and time signature and generates a musical accompaniment. Songsmith was created by Microsoft and is widely accepted as a waste of money on their part… as the software is horrendous.

To Songsmith a song is to remove the original musical accompaniment and allow Songsmith to add one that it feels suits the vocal melody. Songsmithing a song almost always makes it worse and hilarious.
