There are a few words that Canadians pronounce incorrectly and it drives me crazy.
1) The top of the house is a roof (rooooof) not a “ruff”
2) Spaghetti is a kind of pasta (paw-stuh) not “paaa-stuh”
3) The Japanese automaker is Mazda (Maws-duh) not “maaaz-duh”
4) Kurt Cobain was the singer from Nirvana (Nerve-aw-na) not “Nerve-anna”
5) The bird course we all took in high school was drama (draw-muh) not “draaa-muh”
6) The president is Obama (Oh-baw-muh) not “obamma”
I hate to agree with Americans about anything, but they’re just plain right where these words are concerned.
